If you know me at all, you know that I enjoy some subtle background music. That being said, please open this song in a new tab while reading this post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBQxG0Z72qM . When that song ends, please listen to this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cPG1t52GgI .

Sometimes life is grand. You seem to hit your stride and everything goes your way. You laugh, you feel exuberant and joyful.

Sometimes life is awful. You seem to get bogged down in muck and can’t wiggle your way out. These times are not fun. However, you keep wiggling because the good times are coming. It’s like a Newton’s Cradle — the force of life (or fate or God or whatever you believe in) always comes back with a reassuring smack and brings you back up to the good times.

The definition of groovy is marvelous, fantastic and excellent. Isn’t life groovy sometimes?

What makes life groovy? Is it an actual turn of events or is it a mere change in one’s outlook? Who knows? Who cares?

You may say to yourself, “Why is Amanda being so philosophical tonight? Doesn’t she know that the internet is no longer the correct medium to express such thoughts?”

These are good questions. I have two simple answers: I have been reading a lot of Robert Frost’s poetry and today I registered to vote via mail.

Power to the people, and power to poetry.

Happy weekend.
